Toddler Activity: Pretend Cooking with Cotton Balls

I love playing with my babies.  I love even more when the play is something that helps them learn.  The toddler activity we did today was pretend cooking with cotton balls.  It is so simple and they had so much fun doing it.

Basically you get some bowls and spoons and cups and lots of cotton balls.  They can scoop and stir and sort and all those fun toddlery things.

This activity kept them busy for about 30 minutes, which is hours in toddler time!  Penny stayed very entertained by it the whole time.

Ben walked around and pick up the cotton balls and banged spoons and stacked cups.  He wasn't quite as into it as Penny, but he was still very entertained by it.

Penny Loved it!!  We will definitely do this again!

Overall this was a great activity.  I love treating household objects as new toys.  It is cheap fun and Ben and Penny love it!  You should give this activity a go, if my babies are anything like yours, they will love it!

  6. It's so funny, I have a large age gap between my first 3 and last 2 kids and no matter what the latest and greatest toy is, they always prefer these types of activities.

  12. Love this idea! My little one would try to eat the cotton balls, but we might try it anyway. Maybe she'll find they don't taste so good.

  13. Totally did this with my two and it was a big hit. Although they did manage to pull out ALL their play food stuff as well, but it was really fun!
